The most common time when we will balance your wheels is after rotation. Rotating wheels means moving them into a new position to even out the wear and to maximize the life of your tires.
It's a good idea to check your wheel alignment after every tire replacement as well as every two to four years depending on your mileage and the wear pattern of your tires. Checking for wheel alignment issues happens every time you come in for a preventive maintenance service. The alignment should only be performed after a very careful inspection of ALL the steering and suspension items. There cannot be any wear in the steering and suspension. If you hit a large pot hole, have an accident or hit a curb, then have the steering and suspension inspected and damaged parts replaced followed by a four wheel alignment.
